How to use it

Choose a crop or animal and, if you like, one state. The table ranks every county with a published figure, largest first, and shows each county's slice of the national total, or of the state total when a state is chosen. The address bar keeps your choice, so a ranking can be bookmarked or shared. Counties with a profile on this site are linked.

What the numbers mean

Crops are measured in acres harvested in 2022 (orchard crops and grapes in bearing and non-bearing acres, berries in acres grown). Animals are head on hand on December 31, 2022, except broilers, which are birds sold during the year. Counties whose figure USDA withheld to protect an individual farm are not ranked; their count is shown above the table, and their acres or animals are still included in the state and national totals. The ranking describes how much is produced where; it says nothing about prices, profits or which place is better for farming.
